Must See Spring Flowers Around Tokyo

Spring brings fresh breath of life to nature. Grasses and leaves turn to green, flowers start blooming. There are so many flowers to see and take pictures of while in Tokyo in spring. Bonus those flowers bloom at historical places or famous parks. Here are most famous flowers not to be missed if you happen to be in Tokyo in spring:

Sakura (Cherry Blossom)

Where in Tokyo: Shinjuku Gyoen Park, Ueno Park, Meguro River, Sakurazaka, Yoyogi Park, Sumida Park and Chidorigafuchi

When: End of March to early April depends on temperature.

Baby Blue Eyes (Nemophila Blue)

Where: Hitachi Seaside Park

When: Late April to mid May

Getting There: by JR Joban Line from Ueno station to Katsuta station then take bus to the Park (approximately 1 hour 40 minutes).

 

 

Shibazakura (Moss Pink)

When: Mid April to mid May

Where: Hitsujiyama Park, Fuji Shibazakura Festival

Getting There: Seibu Chichibu Line from Ikebukuro to Yokoze or Chichibu station (1 hours 20 minutes) ; Chuo Highway Bus from Shinjuku station to Fuji Shibazakura Matsuri (2 hours 25 minutes).

 

Tsutsuji (Azalea)

When: Mid April to early May

Where: Nezu Shrine Tokyo

Getting There: take Chiyoda Subway Line stops at Nezu station or Sendagi station then head up to Nezu-Jinja-Iriguchi intersection, walk for two or three minutes. Nezu Shrine is on your right side. Alternatively take Namboku Subway Line but it takes longer walk to reach the shrine.

 

Fuji (Wisteria)

Ashikaga Park Wisteria

When: End of April to early May

Where: Ashikaga Flower Park, Kameido Tenjin Shrine

Getting There: JR Tohoku Shinkansen from Tokyo to Oyama then transfer to JR Ryomo Line get off at Ashikaga Flower Park station to the Ashikaga Flower Park ; JR Sobu Line to Kameido station and take 15 minites walk to the Kameido Tenjin Shrine.
